Is tree lopping ever okay?
Rarely. In an emergency a tree might be cut back hard to make it safe, but as ongoing practice lopping damages trees. Proper pruning is almost always the better choice.
Will pruning hurt my tree?
Not when it’s done correctly. Pruning to AS 4373 actually improves a tree’s health, structure and safety. Over-pruning or lopping is what causes harm.
Do I need council approval to prune a tree?
