Tree Removal & Arborist Engadine
Engadine sits between the Royal National Park and Heathcote National Park, which makes its trees protected, bushfire-relevant and very large. We do 10/50 clearing, hazard removals and proper pruning with the Shire and RFS rules checked first. AQF Level 5, $20M insured.

Bush-edge blocks in Engadine, Yarrawarrah and Woronora Heights
Engadine, Yarrawarrah and Woronora Heights are surrounded by bush, and most lots on the outer streets are mapped bushfire-prone. The trees on and around them are the sandstone forest — Scribbly Gum, Sydney Red Gum, Bloodwood, Blackbutt, Turpentine, Old Man Banksia — tall, protected and, in fire weather, a real concern. The suburb has been through enough fire seasons to take asset protection seriously.
Our Engadine work is mostly that: checking whether a lot has an RFS 10/50 entitlement and, where it does, clearing trees within 10 m of the house without a Shire application; and where it does not, assessing the trees that worry people and lodging with Sutherland Shire Council for the ones that genuinely need to go. Gums that are healthy and safe we say so about, and we keep them.
The removals themselves are big: 25 to 30 m trees over project homes and pools. We crane from the street where one can set up and rig in sections where it cannot, chip on site, and leave mulch and firewood if you want them.
Tree services in Engadine
10/50 clearing
Eligibility checked, trees within 10 m of the house removed, vegetation within 50 m managed. See the 10/50 rule.
Hazard-tree removals
Dead, split, decayed or storm-damaged gums removed with the Shire application done where 10/50 does not apply. See hazard trees.
Pruning that keeps the tree
Deadwood and weight reduction on the gums the Shire will not let go — which is most of them. See pruning.
Storm response
After a southerly through the park, limbs on roofs made safe the same day. See 24/7 emergency.
Sutherland Shire Council rules, RFS 10/50 and the park boundary
Sutherland Shire Council: protected from a 100 mm trunk at 500 mm above ground; exempt species include Camphor Laurel, Weeping Fig, Rubber Tree, Italian Cypress, pines, wattles and fruit trees; dead trees without hollows exempt; storm-broken limbs and roofline clearance exempt; within 3 m of the house or pool normally approved on application; up to 28 business days.
RFS 10/50: Large entitlement areas around Engadine, but eligibility is per lot and the RFS online tool is the only authority. Where it applies, trees within 10 m of an external wall and other vegetation within 50 m can be cleared without council approval. It never extends into the national park.
Habitat: Hollow-bearing gums on the park edge are habitat. The Shire protects them and so do we, unless the tree is genuinely dangerous — in which case we document it and remove it properly.

Engadine tree questions
Does 10/50 mean I can clear everything within 10 m?
Trees within 10 m of the house, yes, on an eligible lot — and other vegetation within 50 m. It does not apply to every lot, it does not cover the park side of your boundary, and some threatened species and heritage trees are still protected. We check before we cut.
What does it cost to clear a bush block in Engadine?
Our clearing jobs this year ran $6,000 to $25,000 ex GST; the biggest was around 50 trees. Leaving the mulch on site is free.
Is the gum over my house safe?
Book an assessment. We climb it, check the base, unions and canopy, and give you a written answer. Most are a deadwood-and-reduction job, not a removal.
