Tree Removal & Arborist Peakhurst

Peakhurst still has the tall Blackbutts and Blue Gums from before the suburb, on blocks that were never designed for them. We take them down without touching the house, deal with the stump, and handle Georges River Council. Fixed price after a look.

Big gums on Peakhurst blocks

Drive the streets between Forest Road and the river at Peakhurst Heights and you notice the height. Blackbutts and Sydney Blue Gums at 25 to 30 metres, remnants of the forest the suburb is named for, standing over 1960s brick homes, pools and granny flats. When one of them starts dropping limbs, leans after a storm, or is simply too big for the block, it is a serious removal — not a chainsaw-and-ute job.

We do these as planned dismantles. Where a crane can set up in the street we lift the tree out over the house in a handful of picks, usually inside a day. Where it cannot, a climber rigs it down section by section onto a lowering device while the ground crew processes timber and chips branches. Either way the roof, pool and fences are protected, and the timber leaves on our tip truck.

Georges River Council protects all of these trees, and the bigger the tree the more evidence they want. Our AQF Level 5 reports are written to answer the council’s actual questions — structural condition, targets, alternatives to removal — so applications are approved rather than bounced.

What Peakhurst calls us for

Tree services in Peakhurst

Crane removals over the house

Blackbutts and Blue Gums that are too big or too close to rig by hand. Crane in the street, tree out in pieces, done in a day. See tree removal.

Storm damage and hanging limbs

After a southerly, Peakhurst’s big gums shed. We make the site safe first, then quote the rest. See 24/7 emergency.

Reduction instead of removal

When the council won’t approve a removal, a proper crown reduction and deadwood program to AS 4373 usually solves the problem that made you call. See pruning.

Stumps under new lawns and driveways

Big gum stumps ground well below grade and the roots treated so the new driveway or slab does not lift. See stump grinding.

Peakhurst specifics

Georges River Council rules and access

Council: Georges River Council — 3 m height, 100 mm trunk or 3 m spread triggers protection; deadwooding and hedges exempt; dead trees still need an application; imminent hazards removable with AQF Level 5 sign-off and the exempt works form within 72 hours. Peakhurst Heights backs onto bushland reserves along the river; trees on the boundary of a reserve are treated more carefully by council and sometimes need a biodiversity check.

Access: Peakhurst blocks are a mix. The wider ones near the golf course take the loader and chipper down the side; the narrow ones off Forest Road are hand-rig jobs. We tell you which it is at the quote, because it is the single biggest thing that moves the price.

Species: Blackbutt (Eucalyptus pilularis), Sydney Blue Gum, Angophora, Turpentine, plus the usual Jacaranda, Liquidambar and Camphor Laurel on the older streets. Camphor Laurel under 6 m and Cocos Palm are on council’s exempt list.

Peakhurst questions

Peakhurst tree questions

How much does it cost to remove a 25 m Blackbutt in Peakhurst?

Large removals typically run $5,000–$25,000+ ex GST, depending on what is underneath the tree and whether a crane can reach. That includes the crew, the crane, traffic control and taking the timber away. We quote a fixed price after we see it.

Can a crane get into my street?

Usually. Peakhurst’s streets are wide enough for the cranes we use; we check the setup spot, the overhead lines and whether a road occupancy permit is needed, and organise it all.

Do you have to remove the whole tree?

Not always. If the problem is one limb or the height, a reduction can fix it and keeps the shade. We tell you honestly which it is.
