Tree work in Kirrawee, from the park edge to the apartments
South of the Princes Highway, Kirrawee’s streets run down to the Royal National Park and Loftus, and the blocks carry the same forest: Scribbly Gum, Sydney Red Gum, Blackbutt, Turpentine, with Grey Gums and Bloodwoods on the sandstone. Big protected trees on bushfire-prone land, often with hollows, often over a pool. North of the highway the suburb has been rebuilt around the station into apartments and townhouses, where the trees are courtyard Lilly Pillies, boundary hedges, car-park Brush Box and the occasional old gum the developer had to keep.
We work both. On the park side it is assessments, weight reduction and the occasional justified removal of a big gum, plus 10/50 clearing where the RFS entitlement applies. Around the station it is strata rounds — scope per tree, fixed price, SWMS and certificates for the committee, work scheduled around residents’ cars.
Sutherland Shire Council protects anything over 100 mm trunk and is strict about healthy gums and hollow-bearing trees. We know what the Shire actually assesses, and we tell you honestly when a removal will not be approved.

Sutherland Shire Council rules, bushland and strata
Council: Sutherland Shire Council — protected from a 100 mm trunk at 500 mm above ground; exempt species include Camphor Laurel, Weeping Fig, Rubber Tree, Italian Cypress, pines, wattles and fruit trees; dead trees without hollows exempt; storm-broken limbs and roofline clearance exempt; within 3 m of the house or pool normally approved on application; up to 28 business days.
Bushfire: The southern streets toward Loftus and the park are bushfire-prone with 10/50 entitlement areas. We check the address with the RFS tool before quoting.
Strata: Common-property trees need the owners corporation’s approval and the Shire’s where the tree is protected. We supply the written scope, photos and certificates so the committee can approve it in one meeting.

A contact on the committee and access on the day. We supply the per-tree scope, the fixed price, SWMS, $20M public liability and workers comp certificates, and photos after.
Can the big gum at the back near the park be removed?
If it is within 3 m of the house, normally yes on application. If it is further out and healthy, the Shire will want a defect or a DA reason. If the lot is 10/50-eligible and the tree is within 10 m of the house, no application is needed. We check all three.
Do you do hedges?
Yes — height and width reductions to a line, and replacement with screening trees where a hedge has had it.
