No room to drop it, so every piece went up and over the roof.
A mature Blackbutt standing over a house and the powerlines in Lugarno. There was nowhere on the block to fell or lower sections safely, so the job was planned as a crane removal from the start: a climber in the tree, a crane on the street, and every section lifted clear of the roof and straight onto the tip truck.
The problem
Blackbutts are big, heavy hardwoods. This one had grown over the house with the service lines on the other side, which rules out dropping limbs into the yard and rules out lowering them on ropes past the wires. The only safe path for the timber was straight up.
How we did it
Set-up started before first light so the crane, tip truck and chipper were all in position and the road was clear again by the school run. The climber cut each section to a size the crane could take cleanly, rigged it to the hook, and the crane lifted it over the house and onto the truck. The ground crew chipped the brush as it came down and stacked the logs for removal. The crane itself is a trusted partner we work with on every lift like this; the chipper, loader and trucks are our own.
Council
