Our work · Minto, commercial development

Assessment, protection through construction, and the sign-off at the end.

True Roots was the consulting arborist on a commercial development in Minto from the first report to the final certificate — about two years. That is the full arc a development consent condition actually asks for, and it is rarely done by one firm.

What the consent required

Retained trees on a construction site have to be kept alive and undamaged while excavators, deliveries and footings happen around them. The consent condition called for an Arboricultural Impact Assessment up front, tree protection to AS 4970 during the works, and certification on completion that the trees had been protected as specified.

What we did

We wrote the initial Arboricultural Impact Assessment, set out the Tree Protection Zones with fencing, signage and ground protection before works started, and stayed on as the project arborist through construction. Where footings had to pass close to retained trees, roots were exposed by hand, cut cleanly, wrapped in geotextile and kept watered so the tree and the building could share the block. We inspected at the hold points, kept the records the certifier needed, and issued the final certification when the job finished.

Why it matters to a builder

One firm for the report, the supervision and the sign-off means no second contractor to brief and no gap between what the report says and what happens on site. Our tree protection zone guide explains TPZs, SRZs, encroachment limits and project arborist hold points in detail.
