Residential Tree Removal Sydney
Safe, tidy tree removal for Sydney homes — backyard trees, dangerous trees near the house, and full removal with stump grinding and clean-up at a clear fixed price.
Your home, your trees, done properly.
True Roots removes trees for homeowners across Sydney — from a small backyard tree to a large, dangerous tree leaning over the house. AQF Level 5 arborists, $20M insurance, careful work around your home and garden, and a clear fixed price with the site left clean.
We treat your property like it’s our own. We protect lawns, gardens, fences and paving, rig and lower limbs where there isn’t room to drop them, and clean up properly afterwards — including grinding the stump and removing the timber if you want.
We’ll also tell you honestly whether the tree needs to come out at all, whether it needs council approval, and whether pruning would do the job instead — so you only pay for the work you actually need.

Do you need council approval to remove a tree at home?
Often, yes. Most Sydney councils protect backyard trees over a certain size, and you usually need approval before removing one — but there are exemptions, and the rules differ by council.
Across the areas we work most — Georges River, Sutherland Shire, Bayside and Canterbury-Bankstown — local tree-preservation controls usually mean a protected tree can’t be removed without permission. Common exemptions include dead or genuinely dangerous trees, certain listed or weed species, and trees within a set distance of a home in bushfire (10/50) areas. Because thresholds and exempt species vary, it’s worth checking before you book anything in.
We do this every day. We’ll tell you honestly whether your tree is likely exempt or needs council approval, prepare the arborist report if one’s required, and lodge the application for you — so you’re not left navigating council on your own.

Why we quote every tree individually.
No two trees are the same — so we don’t do flat rates. We assess each job on its own merits, treat it with the care and protocols it needs, and give you one clear fixed price with clean-up included. No call-out fee, no surprises.
Size & species
A small ornamental is quick; a big gum or fig with heavy limbs takes more time, gear and care.
Access
An easy front-yard tree is simpler than a tight backyard that needs rigging or an elevated work platform.
What’s underneath
Pools, sheds, fences, paving and gardens all change how we drop or lower the tree safely.
Risk & protocols
A leaning or storm-damaged tree near the house is treated with extra rigging, planning and safety steps.
Stump & clean-up
Grinding the stump and carting away the timber is included when you want it — more material, more disposal.
Approvals
If a permit or arborist report is needed, we factor it in and handle the paperwork for you.

Good to know.
How much does residential tree removal cost in Sydney?
It depends on the tree’s size and species, access to your backyard, what’s below it, and whether you want the stump ground out. We give you a clear fixed price up front — free — after a quick look or a few photos.
Do I need council approval to remove a tree at home?
Often yes — most Sydney councils protect trees over a certain size unless they’re exempt. We’ll tell you whether you need approval and an arborist report, and we can handle the application.
Will you damage my lawn or garden?
We work hard not to. We use rigging and the right access equipment, lay protection where needed, and leave your yard clean — that’s the difference between a pro crew and a cheap one.
Do you remove the stump and clean up?
Yes. We remove all timber and debris, can grind the stump below ground level, and leave the spot ready for new lawn, garden or paving.
Can you remove a tree growing close to the house, fence or pool?
Yes — tight access is what rigging is for. We lower limbs in sections rather than dropping them, protect the structures around the tree, and work carefully so nothing below gets damaged.
Could pruning save the tree instead of removing it?
Sometimes, yes. If the tree is healthy and the real issue is overhang, light or shape, pruning may solve it. We’ll tell you honestly before you spend money on a removal you may not need.
Do you work weekends, and do I need to be home?
We can usually arrange a time that suits you, and you don’t always need to be home if we have clear access and instructions. For emergencies we respond 7 days.
What happens to the tree and timber afterwards?
We chip the branches and cart away the logs and debris, leaving your yard clean. If you’d like the mulch or any firewood-sized timber, just ask and we’ll leave it.
